Handled with Care

Animal welfare isn’t just important to us—it’s everything.

Our cattle are hormone-free, handled with care, and raised in a low-stress environment. The result? Beef that is not only better for you, but also richer in flavour, tenderness, and quality.

From birth, our calves stay with their mothers for the first five months—just as nature intended. When it’s time to wean, we take a gentle, considered approach using our purpose-built yards, where their mothers can still come and visit (without feeding them). They’re then nourished for 21 days with hay grown on our farm and specific grain and minerals for the purpose of improving gut health and natural growth. We work closely with our Ruminant Nutritionist and advisor from Elders Livestock for the best up to date information on health and nutrition.

After weaning, they return to pasture—free to graze and grow at their own pace. Their final months are spent doing what they do best: living a good life in open paddocks overlooking the Barossa

Our History

Our History

Tucked away in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Barossa Valley Meat is the story of two people, a shared passion, and a proper paddock-to-plate way of life. Billie and Will first met through their love of helicopters—both seasoned pilots—but these days Billie’s swapped the cockpit hours for boots on the ground, helping run her family’s historic farm in the Hoffnungsthal Valley. Held by her family (The Kies family) since the 1860s, the property is rich in Barossa heritage, built on generations of hard work, resilience, and a deep connection to the land. Today, it’s a working farm that blends old-school values with modern farming—home to prestigious vineyards, cereal cropping, beef cattle, B & B Accommodation, Camping alongside her family’s flagship business – Barossa Helicopters. Billie’s passion lies in keeping that legacy alive—rolling up her sleeves to ensure the land, livestock, and lifestyle continue to thrive for generations to come.

Our Story

Our Story

From Our Paddock to Your Plate Barossa Valley Meat is the story of two people, a family farm and a deep love for the land. Will and Billie share a passion for good farming, good food and the Barossa way of life — a life that starts in the paddock and ends around the table. Today, the farm is still very much a family affair — home to vineyards, cereal crops, beef cattle and the people who keep it all moving. Our cattle and lamb graze the rolling hills of the Barossa, raised with the same patience, care and old-school values that have shaped this farm for generations. For us, paddock to plate isn’t a clever phrase; it’s simply how we farm. We know where our beef comes from, we know the country it was raised on, and we take pride in sharing it with you. Small numbers, hand-cut and packed right here in the Barossa — food with a connection to the land, best enjoyed around a fire, a table and a good bottle of wine.

It stays a family place from the paddock to the box — small numbers, hand-cut

Our Livestock

Our Livestock

Sourced from the Barossa Valley, our pasture raised cattle are carefully managed with a balanced diet of grass, hay, grain and essential mineral supplements. Nutritional health is at the core of everything we do, from weaning right through to finishing, producing consistently tender, flavorsome beef you can rely on.

This is a step well above supermarket meat. No feedlots, no rushed production — just thoughtfully raised cattle and a commitment to quality over quantity. When you buy direct, you know exactly where your beef comes from and how it’s been raised.

Every cut is dry-aged to maximise flavour, then expertly butchered and vacuum packed for freshness, convenience, and long-term storage. Whether you’re cooking for the family or entertaining, you’ll always have premium Barossa Valley beef on hand.

If you’re searching for bulk beef, a full freezer, and a reliable source of high-quality pasture raised beef, this box is the perfect solution for you.

Our Farm

Our Farm

Barossa Valley Meat is located in the picturesque Hoffnungsthal Valley, which means “Valley of Hope”.

This very spot is where the first German settlers made their home in the Barossa Valley. On the northern end of the property, you’ll find a historic church site adorned with a plaque honouring the families who settled here.

The early settlers chose to build their town on a dry lagoon, despite warnings from the local Aboriginal people about the risks of flooding. As the years went by, their worst fears came true—every decade or so, the “big rains” would flood the area, and one morning, the settlers woke up to find their homes submerged under a few feet of water. Faced with this challenge, they decided to move to new locations within the Barossa and beyond.

Our Meat

Our Meat

Our beef story has been slow-cooked over time. Billie and her mum (Sandra) have spent the past 15 years carefully breeding and raising their own cattle—building a herd they’re incredibly proud of. What once meant sending stock through the local auction yards has evolved into something much more hands-on. We decided to take the reins and be part of the entire journey—from the first wobbly steps of a newborn calf right through to the final product. By doing this, we can make sure our cattle are raised calm, ethically, and on quality nutrition, the result? Premium Barossa Valley beef that’s been handled with care every step of the way.

Our Expertise

Our Expertise

At Barossa Valley Meat, we’re all about doing things properly—from paddock to plate—because better care makes better beef. And when the work’s done? We like to fire up the BBQ, pour a glass of our own Shiraz—“The Debrief”—made from grapes grown right here on the farm, and toast to a good day’s work. Because at the end of the day, there’s nothing better than great steak, great wine, and a great company.
